Ralph Towner, an American guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Towner is also a member of the ethnic jazz group Oregon, made his debut as a duo with Glen Moore on ECM in 1973 and has consistently released excellent leader albums on the label. This is a masterpiece of live recording of Ralph Towner's solo concerts in Munich, Germany and Zurich, Switzerland in 1979, featuring his own original compositions as well as Miles Davis' "Nardis" and the title track of John Abercrombie's ECM masterpiece "Timeless". It's hard to believe that this is a solo performance by a 12-string guitarist and a classical guitarist, but it's the essence of him. The recording with hall reverb and full of realism is also excellent.
