An album released in 1975 by the American pianist Randy Weston, of Jamaican heritage, who had been active since the 1950s and left behind the landmark 1966 album African Cookbook, a powerful statement of soulful post-bop rooted in the blues and imbued with the spirit of Africa. This is a solo piano recording centered on Weston’s own original compositions, and as the title suggests, it unfolds as an emotional and beautiful performance reflecting on his African roots. The B1 track, a rendition of a jazz classic by Dizzy Gillespie, is also outstanding.

A2: Little Nile
B1: Con Alma
