Rashied Ali participated in several of John Coltrane's historic shows in the 60's with Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders, and later played with the Marion Brown Quintet, Gary Barts NTU Troop, and many other energetic sessions. In addition, Rashied Ali also contributed to the scene by operating Ali's Alley, a live venue, and Studio 77, a recording studio. This album was released in 1976 from his own label. The album features scores by Ali and other members of the group, as well as scores by Mal Waldron and John Coltrane, and is a masterpiece of highly spiritual performances that carry on the spirit of Coltrane. The whole album is great, but B2, which covers Coltrane's classic "Naima," with full of emotion, is the most moving. Highly recommended.
