A landmark album by Reynold and Camelia, the husband-and-wife duo regarded as leading artists of dangdut, a popular dance music style that emerged in Indonesia in the 1970s. This was their first release in Japan. Featuring a nine-piece ensemble built around guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, with the distinctive dangdut sound of gendang and suling bamboo flute, as well as Indian instruments such as sitar and tabla, the album presents a rich fusion sound. From orthodox dangdut to rock-inflected numbers, melancholic kayokyoku-like songs, and energetic funk/disco tracks driven by bold synthesizer arrangements, this masterpiece offers a fascinating glimpse into an evolved form of dangdut that absorbs a wide range of musical elements. Very interesting.
