The first album by Ritual-All-7-70, a group led by multi-instrumentalist Alan Sondheim, released in 1967 on ESP Disk, a New York label that has produced many avant/free jazz masterpieces. It was joint with Ann Hutchinson, Chris Mattheson, Barry Sugarman, J.P., and Robert Poholek. This is a masterpiece of early ethnic jazz, an improvised performance that freely incorporates ethnic sentiments with ethnic instruments such as tabla, xylophone, bansuri, koto, and Hawaiian guitar. It is a similar to Don Cherry's work in the 1960s, including the "Mu" series. Highly recommended.
