A 1987 album by Roberto Sion, a long-active saxophonist and one of the leading figures in Brazilian jazz, also known for his excellent collaborations with Nelson Ayres. Here he leads a quartet featuring rising musicians of the period including Silvinha Góes (p), Arismar do Espírito Santo (b), and Aléxis Araujo (ds). Drawing on compositions by Brazilian masters such as Antonio Carlos Jobim and Johnny Alf, as well as songs by Stevie Wonder, Francis Lai, and The Beatles, Sion gives each piece his own gentle, mellow arrangement. The performances unfold in a consistently relaxed mood, resulting in a beautifully refined and highly enjoyable album from start to finish.
