This is an album released in 1975 by Robin Kenyatta, an American saxophonist who joined the Bill Dixson Quintet in the 1960s, and whose talent blossomed early on as a member of Sonny Stitt's recordings and as a leader on ECM. The quartet, with Dom Salvador (p), Stafford James (b), and Joe Chambers (ds), featured music by Duke Ellington, John Handy, and others, and performed adult and moody music in a relaxed atmosphere. The title track, A1, is unique among them, and it is a psychedelic and Afro-rock like jazz funk piece, incorporating Hammond organ and other instruments.
