Roland Kirk, an American multi-instrumentalist who mastered many reed instruments such as saxophone, flute, and clarinet, and who has been active since the mid-1950s, featured trumpeter Ira Sullivan on this album released in 1960. It's a quintet with William Burton (p, og), Don Garrett (b), and Sonny Brown (ds). The combination of Burton's groovy organ and reeds is superb on the soul jazz track A1, while the cheerful groove unfolding in 3 beats on B2 feels delightful. This early masterpiece has a heartwarming and soulful atmosphere incorporating gospel, blues, R&B, soul, and New Orleans flavors. Every track is exceptional. This is a 1984 US reissue.
