Rolf + Joachim Kuhn Quintet
Transfiguration
MPS Records/BASF (Germany) 1971
CRM 637 (LP) Gatefold sleeve.
sleeve : VG+(SPSE/TOC: 7cm crack and tape on bottom, dirts, color-faded.)
media : EX+/EX+(some slightly surface noises. still good conditon.)
This album was released in 1967 by the quintet of Rolf Kuhn, a German clarinetist and saxophonist, and his brother Joachim Kuhn, a pianist, with Karl Berger, a vibraphonist and pianist. Aldo Romao (ds) and Bob Guerin (b) joined the quintet. The theme appears in a very short development, but it quickly turns into free improvisation, and the interplay between the participating members is excellent. Rolf's vibrato-driven, snarling solos are also agonizing.Reissued 1971 German release.
