Russel Hisashi Baba, a Japanese-American multi-reed player born in San Francisco on the west coast of the U.S. This album was self-released in 1979, featuring violinist Raymond Cheng, who played on several Lester Bowie albums, bassist Heshima Mark Williams, who played on Jukian Priester's ECM album Polarization, and Japanese drum player Jeanne Aiko Mercer. Baba is an artist with no major works other than a self-released album on CD in 1994, but he plays incredibly well. The spiritual free jazz with soprano and alto saxophone is great, but the most amazing part is A2, which consists of a bamboo flute, Tibetan Buddhist ritual instruments, shimedaiko drums, and bass. At first glance, the melody sounds like traditional Japanese music, but it is avant-garde in the extreme. There are only a few works in the field of jazz that approach this kind of sound world. It's amazing. There are six old copies of magazines and newspapers with Baba's articles in them. Thanks to the previous owner.

A1: Country Square
A2: Ancestral Space
