Fronted by Sade Adu, British contemporary soul/jazz group Sade made their debut in 1984 with Diamond Life and went on to release a string of outstanding albums. Following the huge success of that debut, this is their second album, released in 1985. Opening with “Is It a Crime,” whose gently unfolding, expressive development leaves a lasting impression, the album also features “The Sweetest Taboo,” with its light groove and unforgettable melody line, as well as “War of the Hearts,” where the rhythm box is used to great effect. A timeless classic, still fresh today, defined by sophisticated urban sensibility and Sade’s husky, unmistakable voice. Needless to say, every track is superb. Japanese pressing with obi.
