1986 album by American saxophonist Sam Rivers, a central figure of the loft jazz movement that flourished in New York in the mid-1970s, and who left behind such albums as the classic duo album with Dave Holland and The Tuba Trio trilogy for the Circle label. This material was previously released in 1975 as part of a double album 'Involution. Music was recorded in 1967.
Sextet with James Spaulding (as,fl), Donald Byrd (tp), Julian Priester (tb), Cecil McBee (b) and Steve Ellington (ds). This is a rare glimpse of a moment in the evolution from hard bop to avant-jazz.
