1975 album by American saxophonist Sam Rivers, a central figure of the loft jazz movement that flourished in New York in the mid-1970s, including the classic duo album with Dave Holland and the 'The Tuba Trio' trilogy on the Circle label. The album features a wonderful line-up of Cecil McBee (b), Arild Andersen (b), Norman Connors (ds,per), Richard Davis (b), Warren Smith (ds,per) and Barry Altschul (ds,per) on each track. The groove that dominates the entire album, including A1/A2, where Rivers' tenor and flute brood wildly over Connors' funky drumming, is a masterpiece of the coolest kind. Andersen's participation is also vital. Highly recommended.
