This album was released in 1977 by Sam Rivers, an American saxophonist who was at the center of the loft jazz movement that flourished in New York City in the mid-1970s, and whose works include a famous duo album with Dave Holland and "The Tuba Trio" trilogy released on the Circle label. Released on the Fluid label, which released several albums in the late 70's, including works by Archie Shepp and Max Roach. The trio is composed of bassist Dave Holland and drummer Barry Altschul, with whom Rivers has played together many times since the release of this album. The trio's music is full of surprises, such as A1, a mysterious ethno-jazz track with ethnic percussion, bass and flute layered with unstable melodies, and B1, a rare track that features Rivers' piano playing. Recommended.
