A project album bringing together a cast of lesser-known musicians active around San Francisco, fronted by singers Terry Garthwaite and Willow Wray, alongside players such as Robert Earl Scott (drums) and Philip G. Smith (sax). Recorded using a true direct-to-disc process—transferring the performance straight to the cutting lathe without tape—this release captures six jazz cuts spanning gospel, Latin, Dixieland, ballads, funky grooves, and bop. The standout recommendation here is the A2 Latin jazz number: a breezy mambo rhythm driven by crisp percussion, beautifully interwoven with a fluid flute melody and joyful female scat—an irresistible, seasonal gem that feels just right for this time of year. Though a minor release, the overall production is remarkably polished. Also highly recommended is the groovy soul-jazz B4, clearly inspired by Cannonball Adderley and brimming with feel and swing.

A2: Mambo Del Norte
B4: Cannonball
