Sandy Owens : Ensemble
Montage
Ivory Records (US) 1984
IR9184 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(CO, light collapse on one corner, light wrinkles.)
media : VG+/EX-(light noise. A1 has some light click noise.)
Debuting in 1975 and working across a wide range of styles—from jazz to adult contemporary—yet remaining relatively unknown, American pianist Sandy Owen released this album in 1984. Featuring contributions from Marston Smith(cello), Paul Carmen (ss, as), Ted Owen (perc), and Brent McMunn (oboe, English horn), the pieces are performed in various trio and quartet formations built around Owen’s piano. The beautiful ensemble work, which blends elements of classical music, contemporary composition, chamber music, and modern jazz, creates tranquil inner landscapes. It’s an exceptional album—one that also deserves recognition as acoustic ambient music. Highly recommended.
