A 1984 album from Japanese singer Saori Yuki, whose name has become known worldwide in recent years through work such as her collaboration with Pink Martini, which reached No. 1 on the iTunes U.S. jazz chart and Canada’s world music chart. This record was produced to mark the 15th anniversary of her re-debut on Toshiba with “Yoake no Scat.” While details on the producer and backing musicians remain unclear, the songwriting team includes Yoko Aki, Rieko Asama, Koji Tamaki, Emiko Yamakawa, Hiroshi Shinkawa, and Yasuo Higuchi, all contributing excellent material and arrangements. From the Yuji Ohno-flavored urban bossa of A1 and A3 to the Koji Tamaki-penned A2, the whole album is steeped in mature charm and adult sensuality. An adult-oriented pop set of real class. If you’ve had your fill of city pop, this might be the next move: adult pop.

A1: 薔薇と同情
A3: このままがいいの
