Larrikin Records (Australia) 1988
LRJ228 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(SRW, wear on corner.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise. B1 has some slightly wear that does not affect to sounds.)
An album released in 1988 by Australian pianist Serge Ermoll, who is featured in the Cornerstones of Australian Jazz Collector’s Series—a series that highlights outstanding works by Australian jazz musicians, including Brian Brown’s masterpiece The Planets. He also participated with his own quartet on singer Maree Montgomery’s acclaimed album In Good Company, where she is known as “the First Lady of Swing.” This album captures a live recording from the Melbourne Jazz Festival that same year, where Ermoll performed with his quartet featuring David Addes, Geoff Klukes, and Mike Jordan. The set includes an outstanding rendition of the jazz standard A1, originally composed by Bronislaw Kaper for the 1950 film A Life of Her Own; the high-energy number A2by McCoy Tyner; the classic B1 by Sonny Rollins; and more—showcasing superb performances throughout. Addes’s alto saxophone is particularly brilliant. A must-hear.
