L’ Extraordinaire Sergio Cuevas
Harpe Indienne du Paraguay
Arion (Italy) 1972
30131 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(wear on edge and corner.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise.)

Released in 1972 on Arion, the French label that began as a specialist in ethnic music, this is a beautiful album by Paraguayan composer and Indian harp player Sergio Cuevas. Filled with warm, earthy, and deeply inviting sounds, it features dry percussion and the delicate tones of the Indian harp drifting gently through a rich hall reverb. A truly lovely listen throughout. A1 is especially superb, riding on a soft, supple groove—but that melody line sounds remarkably close to “Englishman in New York”… could it be?

A1: Camino de San Juan
B1: Poncho Cuatro Colores
