Active since the 1960s and known for her acclaimed collaborations with Steve Kuhn on ECM, American jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan released this album in 1987. Beloved by Japanese jazz fans, Jordan had already issued several Japan-exclusive projects, including the 1975 release Confirmation. This album, too, was a Japan-only production, co-produced by Hiro Hosomi—who also worked with Kimiko Kasai and Marlene—and Stephen Rosen, a jazz producer from CBS New York. Engineering was handled by David Baker, renowned for his exceptional studio work. Backed by a stellar quartet featuring Kenny Barron (p), Harvie Swartz (b), Ben Riley (ds), and Frank Wess (ts), Jordan delivers an elegant set of jazz standards, showcasing the warmth, phrasing, and emotional depth that define her singular vocal artistry.
