East Wind (Japan) 1975

This is an album released in 1975 by Sheila Jordan, an American singer who has been active since the 1960s and has also recorded some excellent collaborations with Steve Kuhn for ECM. It is a work produced by an original Japanese project, an was ecorded at Vanguard Studio in New York with Cameron Brown (b), Beaver Harris (ds), Alan Pasqua (p), and Norman Marnell (ts). The album features "My Favorite Things," "Inch Worm," and other orthodox standards, as well as tunes by Charlie Parker and others. I especially recommend the Steve Kuhn composition B4, which features scatting with a groovy rhythm section in the background.

A3: My Favorite Things
B4: Pearlie’s Swine
