This album, released in 1989, was produced by Shelley Hizsch, a voice performer from Brooklyn, New York, who has also toured live with Toshio Kajiwara, aka Bing of Hitozoku Records, along with multi-artist David Weinstein, who is also a member of Elliot Sharp's group Carbon. The album features Hizsch's dynamic and versatile vocal performances, soaring with dramatic inflections over Weinstein's dramatic yet radical backing tracks, employing sampling, synthesizers, and scratching. It's cutting-edge New York avant-garde at its finest. Yet, it also conveys a sense of storytelling, which is truly remarkable. The highlight is the title track B1, which spans over 17 minutes and offers an exceptional phantasmagoric oriental feel. Highly recommended.
