A 1977 album by Sir Shina Adewale and His Super Stars International, the group led by Nigerian musicians Shina Peters and Segun Adewale, both of whom would later go on to become major hitmakers in Afro-juju. Both sides consist of extended medley-style performances, a format commonly found in Nigerian dance music such as juju and fuji. Built around repetitive guitar figures, intricately interlocking percussion, and call-and-response vocals, the album captures a raw, undulating form of juju from before the style became fully established as commercial pop music. A superb recording that also hints at the point where juju began to expand through the incorporation of elements such as Afrobeat. Highly recommended. This is an exceptionally rare edition featuring completely different artwork from the commonly circulated pressing.
