This is an album released in 1975 by Sonny Criss, one of the leading saxophonists of the bebop era, who emerged from several jam sessions in California in 1947 and performed with his own orchestra and group as well as with numerous musicians from the 1950s onward. Recorded the same year at studio in Hollywood with a quintet featuring Ray Crawford (g), Dolo Cocker (p), Larry Gales (b), and Jimmy Smith (ds). The Latin-like A1/B1, which features a score by pianist Horace Tapscott, who challenged free jazz with a return-to-nature approach, and the rest of the album is a superb piece of extremely lustrous, sexy, and calm playing that is worthy of being called "smoky silver".
