An album released in 1975 by Sonny Criss, one of the leading saxophonists of the bebop era, who rose to prominence in several jam sessions in California in 1947 and collaborated with numerous musicians in his own orchestras and groups from the 1950s onward. This is a one-horn quartet featuring Barry Harris (p), Leroy Vinnegar (b), and Lenny McBrowne (ds). It's a superb album with Criss' passionate yet consistently cool playing, as heard on A1, a moody and bluesy rendition of a jazz standard, and A2, a groovy arrangement of Dizzy Gillespie's famous Afro-Cuban jazz classic, among others.
A1: Angel Eyes
A2: Tin Tin Deo
