This is a 1974 album by American saxophonist Sonny Rollins, regarded as one of the most influential jazz musicians who collaborated with Miles Davis, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, and many others. The album features Stanley Cowell (piano), Yoshio Suzuki (guitar), Bob Cranshaw (bass), David Lee (drums), Mtume (percussion), and Rufus Harley (bagpipe), and it includes live recordings from a concert held in the same year. You can enjoy a groove-filled performance that passes through the electric Miles era, with Afro-jazz tracks like A1/A3 featuring Rollins blowing fluidly over minimal percussion beats and B2, a Calypso jazz piece with Harley's impressive bagpipe. Yoshio Suzuki's psychedelic guitar work is also noteworthy. Highly recommended.
