This album was released in 1974 by American pianist Stanley Cowell, the founder of the prestigious Black Jazz label, Strata-East. It is a piano solo work dedicated to his late father, recorded in a New York studio the previous year. In this album, Cowell performs his own compositions created between 1958 and 1972.
The album showcases Cowell's virtuosity, ranging from powerful and passionate melodies to elegant and flowing compositions. It's a truly remarkable work that captures Cowell's essence and is considered a classic among classics. The short piece "B2," featuring thumb piano and electric piano, is also outstanding.
Please note that there are three noticeable surface scratches on side A, with significant noise from the run-in groove until about 1 minute and 20 seconds into the track. You can confirm this in the preview file. Apart from that, there are no significant issues with the rest of the album.
