A 1976 leader album by American pianist Stanley Cowell, co-founder of the legendary Black jazz label Strata-East. The impressive cast includes Marion Brown, Ed Blackwell, Jimmy Heath, Billy Higgins, and John Stubblefield, alongside numerous African musicians such as Aleke Kanonu, Psyche Wanzandae, Nadi Wuamar, and Kareema. Ranging from soulful pieces featuring female vocals to primitive ethno-jazz incorporating a wide variety of traditional African instruments, this roots-oriented masterpiece is perhaps the most deeply imbued with ethnic influences of Cowell’s entire catalogue. This is a 1997 Japanese reissue produced by Bomba Records, housed in a gatefold sleeve.
