Stavros Logaridis featuring Eleftheria Arvanitaki
Me Ta Fengaria Chanomai
Lyra (Greece) 1985

sleeve : EX(wear on corner.)

Composed entirely by Giorgos Zikas, this 1985 album features singer/guitarist Stavros Logaridis—known for his work with the psychedelic progressive rock band Poll in the early 1970s and his enduring presence in the Greek music scene—and singer Eleftheria Arvanitaki, who was then emerging as a standout member of the Rebetiko Trio. The album blends traditional Greek folk music, deeply influenced by Arab culture, with modern arrangements featuring synthesizers and other electronic elements, resulting in a rich tapestry of exotic Greek pop. While reminiscent of Vangelis's productions for Irene Papas, it also draws intriguing parallels with the cross-cultural grooves of Algerian artist Djamel Allam and the oriental wave band Dissidenten, formed by members of Embryo. A fascinating borderland groove that fuses European and Arab musical sensibilities.
