An album released in 1977 by Steve Lacy, one of the most highly regarded soprano saxophone players, who had been active on the frontlines since the mid-1950s. After the mid-1960s, he contributed to the development of avant-garde and free jazz through his participation in numerous sessions and the Jazz Composers Orchestra, formed by Carla Bley, Michael Mantler, and others. The album features a quartet with Steve Potts (soprano and alto sax), Ron Miller (bass), and Oliver Johnson (drums). Tracks like A1, where Lacy’s soprano and Potts' alto saxophone interplay drive the progression, showcase an interesting blend of free jazz with moments of melodic expression.
