Steve Lacy has been active at the forefront of avant/free jazz since the mid-50s, and since the mid-60s he has contributed to the promotion of avant/free jazz through his participation in the Jazz Composers Orchestra, formed by Carla Bley and Michael Mantler, as well as numerous sessions. This album was released in 1977. Side A features a soprano sax solo by Lacy. Side B features Alvin Curran, an original member of Musica Elettronica Viva who also recorded the classic solo album Canti e Vedute del Giardino Magnetico in 1975, and Frederic Rzewski, who also played with Karlheinz Stockhausen. The B2 features Curran's intense synthesiser performance. Highly recommended.
