Contemporary/minimalist master Steve Reich's 1980 ECM release is a masterpiece, a follow-up to his historic 1978 ECM release Music for 18 Musicians, which featured percussionist Glen Velez, Larry Karush and many others. Music for a Large Ensemble" (A1), a score written for the band's performance at The Holland Festival in 1978, "Violin Phase" (A2) from 1967 and "Octet" (B1) from 1979. The minimalist phrases of the various instruments intertwine to form an ensemble, creating a divine soundscape that, with the echoes of the marimba and vibraphone, is truly heavenly. It's great. This is one of Steve Reich's most highly recommended works. This is Japanese promo with obi and insert.
