This album by Steve Reich, one of the most important composers of contemporary/minimal music, was released in 1985 and consists of five movements of desert music based on a poem by Williams Carlos Williams. The five movements are composed of three patterns, and the album ends with the fifth movement, which is a homologue of the first movement. Steve Reich's music has a religious feel to it. Highly recommended. First German pressing with direct metal mastering. This US pressing was distributed in Japan in 1986 and comes with an obi and an insert with Japanese commentary by Japanese composer Yoriaki Matsudaira.
