Featured in the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION. A 1984 ECM album by the singular American guitarist Steve Tibbetts. In addition to longtime collaborator and percussionist Marc Anderson, who had been working with Tibbetts since his self-released years, the album also features musicians on bass, tabla, and other instruments. Thunderous percussion and explosive distorted guitar collide with spacious acoustic passages that seem to resonate from somewhere beyond the horizon, surging forward and receding like waves. The result is an immense, endlessly spiritual sound world that unfolds like a vast landscape. It is music that simply refuses to fit into any single category. Needless to say, a masterpiece.
