The album was released in 1984 by Steven Brown, an American contemporary musician whose talent ranges from new wave to experimental music. This was titled "Music for Solo Piano" after the artwork on the prestigious German classical label Deutsche Grammophon, features beautiful piano music with an ambient feel reminiscent of Erik Sati's compositions, as well as piano, clarinet, and other instruments. In addition to the beautiful piano music with an ambient feel reminiscent of Erik Sati's compositions, the album also features piano clarinet and a duo with violin by Blaine L. Reininger, a friend from the Tuxedomoon era. This is a deep piece of work. It is similar to Haruomi Hosono's sightseeing music series and Yasuaki Shimizu's contemporary works.
