The New Age Electronics series, the first installment released in 1981, is a double album by the Japanese percussionist Stomu Yamash'ta. Stomu Yamash'ta gained prominence in the fields of classical and contemporary music from the late 1960s and was known for his involvement in rock-oriented live performances and collaborations with artists such as Steve Winwood, Klaus Schulze, and Michael Shrieve. In this masterpiece, Yamash'ta, along with Isao Tomita, extensively employs synthesizers, featuring electronic sounds resembling rumbling thunder and chanting by a Buddhist monk. The album unfolds as a grand conceptual deep meditative music, expressing the world of Buddhist teachings throughout its entirety.
