A 1982 release by Japanese percussionist Tsutomu Yamash’ta, who first came to prominence in the late 1960s in the fields of classical and contemporary music, and is also well known for his rock-oriented live work and collaborations with Steve Winwood, Klaus Schulze, Michael Shrieve, and others. This album serves as a follow-up to the 2LP set Iroha Ten / Chi, issued the same year. Here, taking “water” as its central theme, Yamash’ta joins forces once again with Sen Izumi, Takashi Kokubo, Yukitoshi Morishige, and Hiroshi Takashima, employing a large array of synthesizers to create a grand, meditation-oriented sound world steeped in Buddhist cosmology. The entire series is excellent, but this is without question one of the standout entries.
