This album was released in 1984 by world-renowned contemporary musician/synthesist Sutomu Yamash'ta. This is an orchestral arrangement of the original soundtrack of the movie "Kukai", which was produced to commemorate the 1150th anniversary of Kobo-Daishi Kukai's enlightenment, and released as his own original work in the same year. The first track, A1, opens with the solemn sound of bells and sutra reading in the silence, and the fine synthesizer sound invites you to a deep meditative world. The music beautifully embodies the life of Kukai, the founder/originator of Japanese artistic conceptions and spiritual orientation. More than just a soundtrack, this is a masterpiece of spiritual music that expresses a grand story through music.
