An album released in 1983 by Japanese percussionist Sumire Yoshihara, who gained international recognition after performing at the Meta Musik Festival in Berlin in 1976—an event organized by Walter Bachauer, also known for his acclaimed works on Innovative Communication under the name Clara Mondshine. At the festival, Yoshihara premiered Toshi Ichiyanagi’s percussion composition Arrangements. This record is the fifth installment in the World of Percussionseries, which began in 1979. It features three compositions: Side A-1 by jazz pianist Takashi Kako, who explores both contemporary music and ambient influences; Side A-2 by Hinoharu Matsumoto, a composer and professor at Ferris University; and Side B-1 by Ken Tanaka, known for his numerous works for wind orchestra. Each piece is performed as a solo percussion work by Yoshihara, showcasing her masterful control of dynamics and tension through the nuanced strength and delicacy of her percussive attacks.
