This is a 1969 leader album by the American jazz drummer Sunny Murray, who participated in numerous sessions as a close associate of Cecil Taylor and Albert Ayler, and also left many works with his own groups. The album features Francois Tusques (p), Alan Silva (vl), Bernard GUerin (b), Bernard Vitet (tp), Kenneth Terroade (ts), Ronni Beer (as), Becky Friend (fh), and Leroy Bibbs (vo), and captures the recording of a session held in a Paris studio in January of the same year. The melodies overflow endlessly, layered upon each other, creating a very dense ensemble. It's a remarkable performance that epitomizes the most intense moments of the avant-garde spiritual jazz sessions that were flourishing in Paris at the time, particularly within the BYG Actuel series. Highly recommended. This initial Japanese pressing from the same year as the French pressing also boasts excellent sound quality.
