Formed in 1968 in Pétion-Ville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, Tabou Combo is a representative compas band from Haiti that rode the wave of the world music movement and even toured Japan. This album, released in 1973, showcases their signature sound. The title track (A1) features an uplifting groove driven by conga-centered percussion and clean-toned electric guitar phrasing. Track B1 stands out with its trippy, distortion-laden guitar work. Throughout the album, you can enjoy danceable compas grooves infused with elements of funk and delivered at a house-like tempo.

A1: Respect
B1: Ti Gran Mou’n
