Tadao Sawai, one of Japan's leading koto composers, founded the Sawai Koto Institute with his wife, the koto player Kazue Sawai, at the end of the 1970s, and went on to create numerous modern koto pieces. Kuniyama Yamamoto (shakuhachi), Kazue Sawai and others participate. A1 is a minimalistic representation of the sea rippling in the sunlight; A2 is an ensemble of 13 players of koto, shakuhachi, and 17-string; B1 is a contemporary duo of Sawai and Kuniyama Yamamoto; and B2 is a koto duet with beautiful interplay of melodies by Sawai and his wife.
