This is a 1989 album by American vibraphonist Teddy Charles, who had been active in the forefront since the 1940s and showcased his skills in various groups, including with Miles Davis and Charles Mingus. It features live recordings from a concert in 1988 at the Teatro Romano in Verona, Italy, where he performed with a hornless quartet, accompanied by Harold Danko on piano, Ray Drummond on bass, and Tony Reedus on drums. The album includes original scores by Charles and Danko, as well as classic tunes by Charles Mingus and Dizzy Gillespie. It's an outstanding live performance that maintains an adult tension throughout. Please listen to it leisurely. Remarkably, Rudy Van Gelder has remastered it in his studio.
