Oslo, Norway guitarist Terje Rypdal, who has been releasing music since the beginning of the prestigious German independent label ECM, released a hidden masterpiece on ECM in 1987 under the name of his group The Chasers, led by bassist Bjorn Kjellemyr and drummer/percussionist Audun Kleive. A2 is a quietly blazing track with floating synth pads and edgy electric guitar solos backed by a rhythm section that slowly grooves while taking up space, while the long drones of the synthesizer and percussion hooks that seem to mimic nature sounds create an atomospheric space. Rypdal, who is heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix and has a strong background in rock music, shows off his taste for jazz rock and super deep ambient jazz on tracks like A4, which creates an atmospheric space. It is now in the realm of neo-progressive rock. This is a great album. Original German pressing.

A2: Kompet Gar
