This is a 1977 album by British guitarist Terry Smith, who had been active on the London jazz scene since the 1960s and also made his mark outside the jazz world through touring with J.J. Jackson and recording with Georgie Fame, and British pianist Tony Lee, who was likewise active in London from the ’60s onward. Released as part of the British Jazz Artistsseries on Lee Lambert’s label, Lee Lambert. Highlights include: track A1, a breezy Brazilian-flavored cover of a Stevie Wonder classic; track A3, a bluesy rendition of a tune by Carl Perkins, also performed by Harold Land and Harold Mabern; and track B1, a soulful jazz number originally featured on Jackie McLean’s iconic Blue Note album It’s Time!. A sophisticated and groovy UK jazz gem throughout.
A1: Isn’t She Lovely
B1: Dat’s Dat
