This album was released in 1973 by Art Ensemble of Chicago, a group from Chicago, U.S.A. that develops free/experimental jazz with roots in traditional African music. It was recorded live during their appearance at the Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz Festival in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1972, and opens with a barrage of African percussion, followed by an exchange of shout-like chants, and the tension rises quickly. A great act. The whole album is great. The whole show is great, and thrilled.
