Lester Bowie, Joeph Jarman, Don Moye, Roscoe Mitchell and Malachi Favors make up the Art Ensemble of Chicago, an American group that plays free/experimental jazz with roots in traditional African music. The album was recorded at Paragon Studio in Chicago in 1973 with guest appearances by Muhal Richard Abrams. The album features a AEOC's best style's free jazz tunes as well as organic ethno jazz that directly reflects African folk music.
