The Blackbyrds’ third album, released in 1975 and produced by Donald Byrd. The string and horn arrangements were handled by Wade Marcus. Although the instrumental credits are not clearly listed, George Bohanon, Ernie Watts, Patrice Rushen, Gary Bartz, Larry Mizell, Tommy Morgan, and others are said to have been involved. A true masterpiece, it carries the refined feeling associated with the Mizell Brothers circle while brilliantly showcasing The Blackbyrds’ own groovy sensibility and superb vocal/chorus work. Highlights are everywhere: A1, a historic rare-groove classic sampled by A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and others; B1, a bright and danceable dance classic driven by an excellent ensemble of horns, chorus, and rhythm section; and the mellow, easygoing soul of B2, which is also absolutely wonderful.
A1: Rock Creek Park
B1: Happy Music
B2: Love So Fine
