An album released in 1970 by the Chris Hinze Combination, led by flutist Chris Hinze, one of the leading figures of the Dutch jazz scene. Hinze left behind a diverse body of work that incorporated elements of Eastern and other so-called “Third World” folk music, and also produced outstanding collaborations with Japanese traditional instrumentalists such as Hōzan Yamamoto and Tadao Sawai. The record features a 22-minute-plus epic opener on Side A that evolves from a gentle introduction through various moods before culminating in a vibrant, Brazilian-flavored ethnic jazz finale, as well as a mysterious slow jazz-funk number on Side B. An early masterpiece where Hinze’s earthy flute playing can be savored to the fullest. Original Dutch pressing.
