Dave Liebman is the saxophonist who has appeared in Japan as a member of Miles Davis's group, and has recorded masterpieces for various labels including ECM. The ironclad quintet of Randy Brecker (tp), Richard Beirach (p), Frank Tusa (b), and Al Foster (dr) delivers tense, spiritual, funky hard bop/modal jazz in the vein of the Miles Davis group, making it a very rewarding listen.
